Ethics Committee

With all the hoopla about old Mulroney at the Ethics committee when are we going to see old Jean being grilled about Shawinigate?

By the way, the Hitman has outsold both of them.

Africentric

Watched the presentations and some of the debate at the TDSB concerning the 'africentric' school proposal. Fascinating enough that I even missed House Hunters.
A lot of passion on both sides. Lorraine Small is a wonderful person.
Note to Brad Davis - the country has far too many lawyers and not enough honest tradespeople who can work with their hands. (in fact they should earn far more than a lawyer)
If the board has something that will work, that will keep the kids in school and become happy and productive members of society I hope they are successful. It will probably take many small steps and a lot of time.
But I don't know if Nigeria, Congo, Uganda, Rawanda, Liberia, or Kenya are the right examples to teach.
The Board is not going to solve poverty or replace parents so they shouldn't expect to change the world and I hope they and the black community understand that.
Unless those overly good intentioned white trustees are kept away the effort will get screwed up.

Richard Who?

There has been a lot of back and forth lately about Richard Warman. It seems he is a dangerous threat to free speech and probably demented according to some and to others he is a hero.

He has used human rights tribunals as his own personal anti-hate forum.

My question is how does one define hate? It appears to me that just about every political blog spews hatred against and/or contempt of those they disagree with, and the comments are usually even worse.

Is it a question of calling for harm against another, or lies that denigrate or would bring into disrepute? Do differences in race or colour or forebears really lead to hatred?

There are bloggers who are violently anti-Harper in their language and thoughts and there are those who are utterly contemptuous of Liberals and neither seem capable of normal courteous discussion.

Hatred in all its forms unfortunately seems part of the human psyche. We can only hope that sometime in the future we might actually reform ourselves - but it won't be in my lifetime.

In the meantime to all those pro and anti- Warman nutbars out there - go screw yourselves!

Strange priorities

Another press feeding frenzy about a dead actor, Heath Ledger, but not so much about the death of one of our soldiers in Afgan.

Strange priorities we have.

Morgentaler

As we come up to the anniversary of the Morgentaler decision, which by and large was the right one and long overdue, there is some irony in the fact that a Jewish doctor was leading a holocaust upon the unborn.

Many Manleys?

Did John Manley deliver a whole bunch of reports? It seems every genius journalist must have read a different one from the number of different takes on it.

These people are as bright as the fund managers and financial advisors we pay to lose our money.

Human Wrongs Commissions

When are our governments going to wake up to the fact that these travesties are no longer useful in any way shape or form. They have passed their prime and now stink like rotting fish.
Perfect expamples would be Mark Steyn/MacLeans and Ezra Levant having to respond to some shit filled Muslims using our tax dollars to complain because their feelings are hurt.

Idoltry

We really have to thank many of those auditioning for American Idol now. Watching some of the talentless folk who actually believe they can perform lets us all feel more comfortable doing karaoke.

Ironic

Ever notice in America all those houses flying the flag but with a Japanese car in the driveway?

Gun Violence in TO

Another innocent victim on Yonge Street shot. Young punk apparently has a handgun license for target shooting. Should be life for carrying it. Kind of makes the argument for banning them make sense. Still anyone using an illegal gun and anyone selling an illegal gun should be put away for life.

America

If not for President Palmer on 24, Obamma might be having a harder time.

Peace on Earth - Yeah right!

Why does form and ritual have to take over religious beliefs? Why do Catholics perform ridiculous ritualistic ceromonies with priests dressed for a Brazilian Ball? Why do Evangelicals follow former snakeoil salesmen dressed in $5000 suits and preaching from multi-million dollar pulpits. Why do Muslims have their asses in the air five times a day?

Jesus preached a simple idea of love and peace. So to a lesser extent did Muhammed. Then where do all these rabid religionists full of hate and bile come from? It must be a flaw of human nature - shame on us.

By the way Happy New Year!
